logitech g230 mic not working but audio is

It wasn't totally off-putting, but I didn't really want to put the headset on and have it so close to my mouth and nose). I washed the whole thing off with some isopropyl alcohol and there still was a distinct smell to it that I couldn't exactly place (dog mixed with cigarette smoke? Not sure. Dirt in the microphone on/off switch where you couldn't even move the switch, there were stains on the cord and earcups. The microphone was covered in debris and god knows what else. While it claimed to be out of the box in excellent condition, it wasn't really 'cleaned' and I wouldn't call it 'excellent'. It wasn't clear that this product was refurbished. I am sick and tired of having to perform this ritual all the time, and I don't understand why I have to.Misleading listing, the headset refurbished. The headset is fixed until I restart my computer again, which causes it to reset back to +12 max until I perform the ritual again. I noticed that if I go into the device manager and uninstall the device, then unplug the device from my computer, restart the computer, and plug it back in, the new dB limit is set to +30, which is perfect because it's loud enough. Before anyone asks, yes i am using the right microphone. I can aggressively tap the microphone and it only barely registers a sound.

This is a huge problem because it is so impossible quiet, I've never seen anything like it. Most of the time, the audio is too quiet, and on the windows microphone properties I can only raise the volume to +12 dB. I have been experiencing very strange behavior with my Logitech G230 headset, specifically the microphone.
